Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry Paddington Rosalie Brisbane

Receive treatment without experiencing overwhelming anxious feelings

We understand that for some patients, the thought of visiting the dentist can be an uncomfortable one. This is why at Crookes and Jenkins Dental, we provide sedation dentistry for nervous patients, and dental anxiety treatment in Brisbane.

Through sedation dentistry you can still experience the same benefits of your chosen dental treatment, without the anxiety that comes with visiting the dentist.

Are you looking for pain free dentistry?

While we cannot guarantee that your visit will be entirely pain free, we offer patients sedation technology to minimise the potential for pain, discomfort and anxiety.  Sedation technology uses pharmacological agents to help anxious patients prior and during their treatments. These techniques mean our patients can receive the treatment they need without experiencing overwhelming anxious feelings during dental visits.

Patient comfort

At Crookes and Jenkins Dental, our patients are our priority. Our long term focus has always been to provide high quality treatments to families and patients of all ages, from children through to the elderly. We have created a practice that is comfortable, family friendly and wheel chair accessible to ensure all of our patients are able to receive the treatment they need easily.

It is always our aim to provide our patients with a thorough understanding of their treatment plan. We endeavour to communicate clearly with our patients to discuss expectations and well as any issues we may have come across in our assessment. We believe that when patients are a part of the treatment plan and have the ultimate role in decision making, it makes the process far more enjoyable and reduces some of the stress that may be involved.

Our Facilities

When we created our facilities we had you, the patient, in mind. We utilise software and equipment that aids in discussing the patient’s dental needs. Our imaging equipment helps our patients visualise and gain a deeper understanding of their overall health and our software can create a graphical estimate of the entire mouth to complement our discussions.

Our sedation technology

At Crookes & Jenkins Dental, we are licensed to provide nitrous oxide (also known as happy gas or laughing gas) to medically relax those patients who need it to ease specific phobias. Nitrous oxide is inhaled through a mask that is placed over the patient’s nose. Your dentist will have control over the amount of medication you receive, meaning your individual needs will be catered to.

This type of sedation is also ideal for children. We often find that children are uncomfortable with the sensations felt at the dentist because they are unusual or new. When they receive happy gas it means that they don’t have full awareness of what is happening. When they finally notice the numbing or small feelings of discomfort, the procedure is finished.

Happy gas is quite a minimal sedation method which means it will wear off quickly after treatment.  Patients are usually able to drive home after receiving treatment; however, this will be discussed on a case by case basis.

For patients who experience symptoms of anxiety in anticipation of dental treatment, pharmaceuticals such as oral sedatives may be prescribed to help with anxiety concerns before and during treatment. Oral pharmaceuticals are long action, and may make people drowsy and less alert.  It is usually recommended that patients do not drive to or from their appointments if taking this type of anti-anxiety medication.

We love that we are able to offer treatment options to anxious patients with little to no discomfort to them.
