Oral health care is our main priority here at Crookes & Jenkins Dental, which is why your home care plays such an important role – we all know that old saying that ‘prevention is better than cure’.
We stock a varied selection of oral health products that we can recommend to you, individually tailored to your needs.
Toothbrushes
Effective brushing and home care starts with the correct technique and the right toothbrush. We recommend a bristle brush with a small head and soft bristles, which will not only give you the best clean but will also minimise any damage to the soft tissues. We stock the latest model Oral-B electric toothbrushes, which can be an excellent option, especially for those of us who like that fresh zing feeling after a thorough clean.
To ensure oral health, make sure you are brushing at least two times a day for a recommended 2 minutes. Using gentle strokes, you will be able to thoroughly clean your teeth and prevent things like tooth decay and gum disease.
Don’t forget about the kids!
We have a selection of battery and manual toothbrushes for all ages from 0—10 years old. We also stock replacement heads for the Oral-B range. Just ask one of our friendly staff members for advice on what’s best to buy.
Flossing & other items to clean in between your teeth
Once you have been shown the best technique, flossing becomes an easy and very beneficial part of your home care, keeping the in-between surfaces of teeth and the gums healthy. We stock a selection of dental flosses, tape, Super Floss (for bridges and bigger gaps) and even floss holders which hold the floss for you, so it couldn’t be simpler. Flossing is an important part of taking care of your teeth. Brushing by itself cannot reach all areas of the mouth, therefore you need to floss to make sure you’re getting the bacteria and plaque build-up in those hard to reach places.
Mouthwashes
We stock several varieties of mouthwash, each of which will benefit different oral conditions. It is important to understand the difference between a standard mouthwash and a medicated mouthwash. Mouthwash is generally used to control the build-up of dental plaque between brushing, and freshen the breath, but does not necessarily strengthen teeth. A Fluoride mouth rinse will strengthen the teeth but should only be used when recommended by your dentist, as it will provide the most benefit for certain patients. It is also important to realise some mouthwashes may contain alcohol and chlorhexidine, which can cause staining on your teeth. It is best to discuss what’s best for you with your dental professional.
